Jayleen

Jayleen is a modern name built around the familiar Jay- opening and the -leen ending found in names such as Eileen and Kathleen. It does not have one established ancient translation. “Pretty jaybird” is an attractive interpretation sometimes attached to it, but the complete name is not a traditional phrase with that literal meaning.

Jaylene is a closely related spelling, while Jay and Leen offer simple ways to shorten Jayleen. The name can also be chosen to echo two relatives’ names, although the particular family connection will differ from one child to another. Compared with Jaylee, its final consonant gives it a more definite ending. Parents choosing between Jayleen and Jaylene can focus on the spelling they would be most comfortable explaining aloud.
