Joselyn

Joselyn is a spelling of Jocelyn, a name that developed through a medieval Germanic name associated with the Gauts, an early Germanic people. The conventional explanation “member of the Gauts” describes that historical name connection; it should not be read as a statement of the ancestry of someone named Joselyn today.

Jocelyn is the clearest form to compare when researching the wider family. Joselyn replaces the c with s, which can make the preferred sound look more direct to some readers, though pronunciation still depends on language and family usage. Its meaning is separate from Josephine or other Jo names. The spelling choice changes presentation rather than the name's underlying historical origin.
