Juanita

Juanita is a Spanish affectionate form of Juana, which belongs to the John name family and carries the meaning God is gracious. The ending ita is a familiar Spanish diminutive, giving the name a tender or familiar quality. Over time, Juanita has become a complete given name in its own right rather than requiring Juana as a separate formal name.

Its relationship to Juan and Juana makes it useful for honoring relatives across generations. Spanish-speaking families may hear the affectionate ending immediately, while English speakers may recognize Juanita simply as an established personal name. Both experiences are part of its history. For parents comparing forms, Juana offers the shorter base and Juanita preserves the fuller, affectionate shape.
