Junia

Junia is the feminine form of the Roman family name Junius. Its deeper derivation is uncertain, although the name is often associated with Juno and the month of June. That makes summer an appealing modern connection without requiring Junia to mean that a child was literally born in June.

The name also appears in Paul’s letter to the Romans, giving it a place in early Christian history as well as ancient Roman naming. Readers have debated aspects of that brief reference, but the name itself has a much wider Roman background. Junia offers a full, flowing form alongside the simpler June and the more overtly mythological Juno, with each retaining its own identity and history.
