Kamilla

Kamilla is an established form of Camilla used in several European languages, including Scandinavian languages and Hungarian. The name belongs to the Roman Camillus family, traditionally associated with young attendants at religious ceremonies. That historical role is the basis of the familiar “ceremonial attendant” explanation, rather than a modern description of a child’s duties.

The initial K is part of the spelling tradition in those languages, not necessarily a recent decorative change to Camilla. Kamma is a short form, offering a more compact everyday option. Families choosing between Kamilla and Camilla may therefore be selecting the form that matches their language or family history, while keeping the same older name connection.
