Kamille

Kamille is a spelling of Camille, from the Roman name family associated with camillus, a young attendant at religious ceremonies. The term gives the name a specific historical setting, even though the deeper origin of the Roman word is uncertain. Camille and Camilla are related forms with their own established language histories.

The initial k makes Kamille distinctive on the page while keeping the familiar family connection. Its resemblance to words for chamomile in some languages does not make the Roman name and the flower share an origin. A family may choose Kamille to honor a Camille or Camilla, retaining the connection while giving the name a different written form.
