Karlee

Karlee is a spelling of Carly, a name related to Carl and the broader Charles family. The Germanic root is associated with a man or free man. As with other feminine forms in the family, the old lexical root explains the name’s history rather than describing the gender of everyone who uses it.

The K opening and -lee ending give Karlee a different written appearance from Carly while usually preserving the same English sound. Carlee offers a nearby alternative. The name can be chosen as a familiar form connected with Carl or Caroline, or as a complete given name. Its ending is part of this established name relationship and does not necessarily introduce a separate meaning of meadow.
