Karly

Karly is a spelling of Carly, a feminine name connected with Carl and the wider Charles family. The older Germanic root refers to a man or free person. Karly brings that established family into a short feminine form, with the initial k reflecting the spelling of Karl rather than creating a separate meaning.

The relationship with Carl and Charles can make Karly a way to honor a relative while choosing a different everyday name. Carly and Karlie are closely related spellings, each preserving the same central sound. Karly's history is therefore more specific than a recent fashion for replacing one initial letter with another: it belongs to a broad family that already includes both C and K forms.
