Kelsie

Kelsie is a spelling variation of Kelsey, an English surname taken from place names. One common explanation interprets the older place name as Cenel’s island, combining a personal name with an element for an island or raised ground. The exact derivation is not entirely certain, but the English geographical and surname background is well established.

The final ie distinguishes Kelsie from Kelsey while keeping the same broad name family. As a first name, it can preserve a surname connection without using the most familiar spelling. Kelsey is the useful starting point when exploring its history, while Kelsie represents the later personal-name form rather than a separate Scottish or Irish name with a different inherited meaning.
