Kennedi

Kennedi is a modern spelling variation of Kennedy, an Irish surname descended from the personal name Cennétig. Its traditional explanation concerns the head and is often rendered “misshapen head,” although old descriptive bynames do not necessarily translate neatly into modern personal descriptions. The surname’s family history is more relevant than applying that description to a child.

The final i distinguishes Kennedi from Kennedy without changing the underlying connection. The Kennedy family gives the surname a prominent American association, but a family may choose the name for its sound or an unrelated relative. Both spellings retain the same three-syllable rhythm in ordinary English use.
