Kenzie

Kenzie developed as a short form of Mackenzie, a Scottish surname meaning “son of Coinneach.” Removing Mac removes the explicit “son of” element, so that whole surname translation should not be assigned mechanically to Kenzie alone. Coinneach, represented in English by Kenneth, is associated with fairness or handsomeness.

Kenzie can stand as a full given name or remain a familiar form of Mackenzie or Makenzie. It keeps the distinctive central sound while reducing the longer name to two syllables. The name is used for boys and girls in different communities, with a family surname or relative often providing a more specific connection than its spelling alone.
