Kiara

Kiara can be connected with two different European name families. Italian Chiara, a form of Clara, is associated with clarity or brightness. Irish Ciara has a separate root associated with darkness. Their contrasting meanings are not a contradiction once the two naming routes are understood separately.

Kiara is also the name of Simba’s daughter in The Lion King stories, giving it a familiar fictional association. English pronunciations vary in their vowels and emphasis, so the family’s intended sound is worth making clear. Parents choosing Kiara to honor a Chiara or Ciara can explain that relationship directly, rather than trying to assign every possible meaning to the same child’s name.
