Kimber

Kimber is a short form of Kimberley or Kimberly and is also used independently. The longer names have a surname and place-name background, with older elements that can depend on the particular place. Assigning the whole interpretation “Cyneburga’s meadow” to every Kimber is more specific than the short name alone can establish.

Kim offers a further shortening, while Kimber keeps more of the longer name’s sound without its final syllable. Families honoring a Kimberly or Kimberley can use it to preserve a clear connection. Choosing between Kimber as the official name and as a nickname mainly affects the available formal spelling, rather than creating a new ancient meaning.
