Knoxx

Knoxx is a modern spelling of Knox, a Scottish surname associated with a hill or rounded rise in the landscape. The older surname is usually connected with Scots vocabulary related to Gaelic cnoc. Its final x already represents a consonant cluster, so doubling that letter changes the written appearance rather than adding a new historical meaning.

John Knox, the Scottish religious reformer, is a prominent bearer of the older surname. That association belongs to the wider name family, while a modern family may choose Knoxx for entirely personal reasons. The spelling also remains distinct from the English word knocks despite sounding similar. For parents comparing Knox and Knoxx, the main difference is the written form; the established surname and landscape connection remain the same.
