Kristoff

Kristoff is a form in the Christopher family, related to names such as Christoph and Kristof. The older Greek name Christophoros combines Christos with an element meaning to bear or carry, giving the meaning Christ-bearer. The shorter ending keeps that religious history while producing a more compact form than English Christopher.

Disney’s Frozen gives Kristoff a highly recognizable modern association through its character of the same name. That fictional bearer did not create the wider name family, but it may be the first connection many children make. For parents, the name can therefore hold two distinct associations: an older Christian meaning and a familiar film character. The doubled final f distinguishes this spelling from Kristof and makes the chosen form easy to identify in writing.
