Kyra

Kyra is used as a form of Kira and is also sometimes interpreted as a feminine form of Cyrus. Those routes do not establish a single certain meaning, and the commonly repeated translation “throne” should not be presented as settled. Similar-looking Keira and Kiera can lead to another name family, so spelling resemblance alone is not enough to determine the origin.

Actress Kyra Sedgwick is a familiar bearer. English speakers use more than one pronunciation, including versions with a long i sound and versions closer to Kira. Parents should choose the sound they want explicitly rather than expecting the y to make it obvious. Ky is an optional nickname, though the full name is already short.
