Kyran

Kyran is an English spelling related to Irish Ciarán. The name combines ciar, associated with darkness, with a diminutive ending, producing the traditional interpretation little dark one. Historically that could describe coloring, such as dark hair, rather than a personality trait. Ciarán and the unaccented Ciaran display the Irish form more directly.

The name family has a strong place in Irish Christian history through saints called Ciarán, including the founder associated with Clonmacnoise. Kieran is another widely recognized English rendering. Kyran offers a different way to write the same name family, keeping its Irish roots and saintly background while using letters more familiar in many English-language names.
