Lael

Lael is a Hebrew biblical name interpreted as “belonging to God.” Although its biblical bearer is male, the name is also used for girls. That later use does not change the meaning or require it to be derived from a different name; the same brief form can carry the original religious connection.

Its four letters include an unusual sequence of adjacent vowels, so a spoken introduction can be helpful for readers unfamiliar with it. Lael is complete rather than a shortening of a longer name. Families drawn to biblical names may appreciate the direct meaning while comparing its compact shape with longer names that include the element el.
