Lana

Lana can be a short form of Alana or of longer names ending in lana, including Slavic forms such as Svetlana. Its meaning therefore depends on the intended full name. The glosses rock or handsome do not accurately explain every Lana across those traditions.

Actor Lana Turner and singer Lana Del Rey give the name familiar cultural associations. Families can choose Lana independently without a longer name on documents, or use it to preserve a specific family connection. Pronunciation of the first vowel may vary. Identifying the intended name family provides a clearer meaning than combining every possible short-form route.
