What does Lauren mean?
Lauren means “From Laurentum; traditionally linked with laurel”.
Lauren is connected with Laurence and the Roman name Laurentius, traditionally referring to someone from Laurentum. The place-name is commonly associated with laurel, giving the name a botanical connection through its history rather than a simple direct English word meaning.
Actor Lauren Bacall helped make Lauren familiar as a feminine first name. Laurie can be a nickname, while Laura is a related form to compare. Families may choose Lauren for a relative, a literary or film association, or its two-syllable sound.
