Laynee

Laynee is a spelling in the Lainey and Laney family, often used as a familiar form of Elaine. Elaine belongs to the Helen name family, whose oldest derivation remains uncertain despite a longstanding association with light. Through that connection, Laynee has a more specific history than the appearance of its modern spelling might suggest.

Elaine also brings a literary thread: several women bear the name in Arthurian stories. A family using Laynee to honor an Elaine can preserve that relationship in a shorter everyday form. The ay and double e make the intended sound visible for many English readers, while Lainey offers a closely related spelling to compare when deciding which version feels most natural.
