Lexi

Lexi is a short form associated with Alexandra and the wider Alexander name family. Its Greek ancestry combines elements referring to defending and to men, traditionally expressed as defender of men. Lexi is also used independently, so the short form does not require Alexandra as an official name.

Lexie and Lexy are close spelling alternatives that usually keep the same two-syllable English sound. The x makes the connection with Alex especially visible, while the ending gives Lexi its own rhythm. A family honoring an Alexandra can choose the brief form directly or use it alongside the longer name, depending on how formal a full-name option they want.
