Liara

Liara is a modern name with several suggested origins, none secure enough to give it one definite ancient meaning. Its resemblance to Lara, Lia, and Liora can make it feel familiar, but those names have separate histories. Liara’s most clearly established cultural connection is Dr. Liara T’Soni, a character in BioWare’s Mass Effect games.

That science-fiction association gives the name a particular story for fans, while the open vowels allow it to be used without a family needing to share that interest. It is helpful to distinguish the character connection from claims that Liara automatically means “my light” or “citadel.” Parents can choose its sound or its fictional association while leaving the linguistic origin honestly open.
