Lidia

Lidia is a form of Lydia used in several European languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, and Romanian. The older Greek name refers to a woman from Lydia, a region in ancient western Anatolia. Its meaning is geographical, identifying a place of origin rather than a character trait or a separate word for beauty.

Lydia is also the name of a woman in the New Testament, giving the name family a biblical association alongside its classical geography. Lidia retains that history with an i where the familiar English form has y. The spelling may therefore reflect an established language tradition, not simply a recent alteration, and pronunciation can vary naturally between those languages.
