Lillith

Lillith is a modern spelling of Lilith, a name associated with ancient Mesopotamian spirit traditions and later Jewish folklore. Its precise linguistic history is complex, and translations involving night partly reflect later associations. The extra l does not create a separate ancient name or a connection with the lily flower.

In a later Jewish legend, Lilith appears as a figure preceding Eve in Adam’s story; that account is distinct from the narrative in Genesis. More recent literature and art have interpreted her in different ways, including as a symbol of independence. Families considering Lillith may value that evolving cultural story, while recognizing that the name carries substantial mythological and folkloric associations beyond its resemblance to Lily.
