Lois

Lois is a Greek name traditionally connected with the idea of being better or more desirable. It appears in the New Testament as the name of Timothy’s grandmother, remembered alongside his mother Eunice for the faith passed through their family. That small but meaningful passage gives Lois a clear biblical association centered on generations and influence.

Modern readers may also think of journalist Lois Lane from the Superman stories. The two associations give the name quite different points of recognition: one religious and familial, the other literary and adventurous. Lois has a compact two-syllable shape and a substantial vintage history, making it a complete, established choice without an obvious need for a nickname.
