Lucero

Lucero is a Spanish word for a bright celestial body and is especially familiar in expressions for a morning or evening star. It is connected with light, but “shining star” gives more of its ordinary word sense than simply treating it as a nickname for Luz. The personal name can stand independently.

The word's celestial image supplies a direct nature connection without requiring a mythological explanation. Lucero has been used as a personal name for boys and girls, so its final o does not determine every real-world use. Luz is a useful meaning-related comparison, but the two are not interchangeable spellings. A family choosing Lucero can point to a specific Spanish word with an evocative everyday meaning.
