Lucius

Lucius is an ancient Roman personal name traditionally associated with Latin lux, meaning “light.” It was a praenomen, or individual given name, rather than simply a Roman clan surname. The name also appears in the New Testament and later Christian history, which helped preserve it beyond the world of ancient Rome.

Literary associations range from Shakespeare to Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter books, while Lucius Fox supplies a different fictional connection through Batman. English pronunciation often differs from reconstructed Latin or other European usage, so parents may want to decide which form they prefer. Luc is a short option, and Lucio is a related name to compare. The full Lucius keeps the clearest classical character.
