Marcell

Marcell is a Hungarian form of Marcellus, the Roman name developed as a diminutive of Marcus. Marcus is traditionally connected with Mars, the Roman god of war, although the precise oldest derivation is not entirely certain. Marcell therefore carries a Roman name-family history rather than simply translating as a modern word for warrior.

The double l is part of an established spelling, not just an extra letter added to make Marcel look new. Marcel is a useful French comparison, while Marcellus shows the longer Latin form behind both. For a family with Hungarian connections, Marcell can preserve a familiar cultural form while remaining recognizable to readers who know Marcel. Its classical background adds depth without requiring the martial association to define a child's character.
