Maribel

Maribel is commonly used as a Spanish combination or short form of María Isabel. María belongs to the Mary family, whose deeper meaning remains uncertain, while Isabel is a form of Elizabeth and carries its traditional Hebrew oath-related meaning. The combined name brings those two histories together without creating a single literal translation.

Its compact form can preserve both halves of an important family name, making it useful when honoring a María Isabel or two separate relatives. English-speaking families may also hear Mary and the familiar bel ending in it. Maribel’s appeal comes from the way it turns a longer pairing into one flowing name, with the original names still visible inside it.
