Mavie

Mavie is a modern name associated with the French phrase ma vie, meaning “my life.” The phrase provides a personal interpretation, although it should not be confused with a long-established French traditional name. Other families may arrive at Mavie as a familiar form of Mavis or through its resemblance to Maeve, which have separate histories.

Mavis refers to a song thrush, while Maeve has an Irish background, so neither meaning automatically applies to every Mavie. Spanish Mavi can also shorten María Victoria. The varied routes help explain why the same short spelling attracts different explanations. Footballer Neymar and Bruna Biancardi used Mavie for their daughter, providing a modern public association rather than an origin for all uses.
