Mayte

Mayte is a spelling of Maite with two closely connected naming contexts. In Spanish it can represent a compact combination of Maria and Teresa. It is also associated with the Basque name Maite, meaning beloved. The spelling alone does not reveal whether a family chose it as a combination, a love name, or both.

That dual background gives Mayte a useful place between a family honor name and a word with an affectionate meaning. Maite is the closest alternative spelling. A Mayte named after a Maria Teresa can share that specific story, while another family may place the emphasis on the Basque meaning rather than the two longer names.
