Milania

Milania sits between two established name families: Milana, associated with the Slavic element meaning dear or gracious, and Melania, from a Greek word meaning dark. The spelling can be chosen as an elaboration of either, so its meaning is best understood through the name a family intends to honor. Those two histories remain distinct even when their sounds overlap.

Milania Giudice, whose family appeared on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, helped bring this particular spelling to a wider American audience. Its four-syllable rhythm gives it a longer shape than Mila or Milan, and Mila offers a straightforward everyday shortening. The full spelling preserves the prominent middle a that distinguishes Milania from Melania on the page.
