Minha

Minha is a Korean given name often written as two syllables, Min-ha. Its precise meaning depends on the hanja, or Chinese-derived characters, selected for those syllables when hanja are used. The sound alone does not establish a single definition such as clever or quick, because multiple characters can share the same reading.

Actor Minha Kim, who appears in Pachinko, has made the name familiar to many international viewers. Writing the name as Minha or Min-ha mainly changes how its syllable boundary is shown in Latin letters. For a family choosing the Korean name, the written characters and any family naming tradition are important parts of its story. The unrelated Portuguese word minha does not determine that Korean meaning.
