Mireya

Mireya is a Spanish form associated with Mireia and the Provençal literary name Mirèio, known in French as Mireille. Frédéric Mistral's poem helped establish that name family. Its deeper derivation has been explained in different ways, including a connection with admiration, so “admired” is better treated as a familiar interpretation than an undisputed literal meaning.

Mireya's flowing vowels give it a distinctive rhythm beside Mirabel or Mariela. Mira offers an accessible short form, while Mireia provides another spelling to compare. The y may help some English-speaking readers separate the final sounds, though pronunciation can still need an introduction. Parents who enjoy a literary connection may appreciate that the name has a particular cultural story rather than only a decorative meaning.
