Mya

Mya is often used as a spelling of Maya, a name with several independent histories. A family connecting it with Greek Maia is choosing a different linguistic route from one connecting Maya with Sanskrit tradition. The short spelling alone cannot establish which meaning applies, so it is better to preserve the intended family or cultural connection.

Singer Mya Harrison gives this spelling a recognizable musical association. Its three letters create a compact written name, although readers may not all choose the same vowel sound at first. If you love Mya, deciding on the pronunciation and the particular Maya tradition you mean will make its story clearer than collecting several unrelated translations.
