Nakoa

Nakoa is a Hawaiian name associated with the expression nā koa, “the warriors.” The plural sense is important: the meaning is not simply the singular word for a warrior. Written without the space or vowel mark, Nakoa represents that connection in a form often encountered on English-language documents.

The name became more widely recognized through its use for the son of actors Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa. That modern association is separate from the Hawaiian language behind it. Families choosing the name for its heritage can keep the original meaning and spelling distinctions in mind, rather than treating it merely as a new alternative to similar-sounding names.
