Natan

Natan is a form of Nathan that closely reflects the Hebrew name’s consonants. It comes from the verb meaning to give and is commonly explained as he gave. Gift is a natural family interpretation, but the name’s form is a verb rather than the ordinary Hebrew noun for a present.

The biblical Nathan was the prophet who advised and challenged King David, giving the name a history associated with moral responsibility as well as court life. Natan is also used in several European languages, where omitting h follows local spelling conventions. In Latin letters, its five-letter spelling forms a palindrome, reading the same backward and forward, which gives it an additional visual symmetry. The name combines that visual symmetry with a substantial scriptural history.
