Natasha

Natasha began as a Russian affectionate form of Natalya, part of the Latin name family associated with Christmas and the “birthday of the Lord.” It became established as a full given name in English and other languages. Natasha Rostova in Tolstoy's War and Peace gives it a lasting literary association alongside its family and cultural use.

The name offers a more flowing alternative to Natalie while keeping a clear connection to the same older root. Tasha and Nat are natural shortenings. Natasha is recognizable in English, although the exact vowels differ between languages. Families honoring a Natalia or Natalya may find that it preserves the relationship while giving a child a distinct everyday name. The Christmas meaning can matter personally without restricting the name to a December birth.
