Nathalie

Nathalie is a French spelling in the Natalie and Natalia name family. The family comes from Latin language concerning birth and has a traditional association with Christmas, the birth of Christ. It is not necessary to describe the French form as having come specifically through Russian; the wider name family has several European paths.

The h is the most visible difference from Natalie. It does not ordinarily indicate the English th sound in the French name, so readers may need that distinction explained. Nat can serve as a short form. Nathalie keeps the same birth-related background as its relatives while retaining an established French spelling rather than being simply an ornamental English variant.
