Nicodemus

Nicodemus comes from Greek elements meaning victory and people. The familiar interpretation victory of the people preserves those two parts. In the Gospel of John, Nicodemus is a religious leader who speaks with Jesus and later helps with his burial, giving the name a clear New Testament setting alongside its Greek language history.

Nikodemos is a form closer to the Greek ending, while Nikodem is used in Polish. Nico offers a shorter everyday option without losing the opening of the full name. For parents comparing biblical choices, Nicodemus has a more explicitly classical shape than many familiar English forms, with both a meaningful compound and a particular character behind it.
