Nikola

Nikola belongs to the Nicholas family, from Greek elements meaning victory and people. It is an established masculine form in countries including Serbia, Croatia, and Bulgaria, while some other European naming traditions use Nikola for girls. The shared spelling therefore does not have identical usage everywhere, even though the underlying name family is the same.

Inventor Nikola Tesla gives the name an especially recognizable scientific association. Niko and Niki offer familiar shorter forms, but Nikola is already complete in its own right. For a family using more than one language, it can connect with Nicholas while keeping the form used in their own heritage, and its final a carries no single universal signal about gender.
