Paislee

Paislee is a modern spelling of Paisley, a Scottish place name that also became a surname and the name of a textile pattern. The town's older name has several proposed explanations, with a connection to a word for a church or basilica widely suggested. “Cemetery” should not be presented as an equally certain translation.

The pattern association comes through Paisley's textile history, giving the name a decorative connection separate from its disputed older meaning. Paislee changes the final ey to ee while retaining the recognizable sound. This spelling is best understood as part of contemporary English-language naming, rather than as a separate ancient Scottish form. Paisley remains the most direct comparison for exploring the town and surname background.
