Presleigh

Presleigh is a spelling of Presley, an English surname with a place-name background. Its elements refer to a priest and a clearing or meadow, originally identifying land associated with a priest. That makes it part of the large group of surnames that began as descriptions of where a person lived or came from.

The -leigh ending gives Presleigh a different appearance while retaining the sound of Presley. Elvis Presley provides an obvious musical association with the surname, though a child named Presleigh need not be named after the singer. Families can choose it for its inherited surname, its sound, or a personal musical connection. Its history combines an ordinary landscape description with the much more recent practice of using surnames as first names.
