The story behind the name

Meet Quinn.

Not to be confused with Quincey, Quint, or Quinton, which related to the number five, Quinn is the Anglicized version of the Irish patronymic surname Ó Cuinn, meaning "descendent of Conn." Conn has two possible derivations—the Old Irish cond, meaning "intellect," or cenn, meaning "chief." One of the most notable Quinn clans was from County Tyrone in Northern Ireland.

Some other, more unusual names with the Q-factor: Quincy, Quintina, Quintana, Quinta, Quilla — and, on a different note, Queenie.

While Quinn leans feminine in the US, Scotland, and Canada, it is far more neutral in England and Wales (split 60:40 towards girls), while in the Netherlands, it is used for boys 85% of the time.
