Raven

Raven is an English bird name referring to the large dark-feathered corvid. It has many literary and cultural associations, but those associations differ between communities and should not be treated as one universal symbolic meaning. The direct name meaning is the bird itself.

Edgar Allan Poe’s poem The Raven supplies a familiar literary connection, while comic-book characters provide others. Rae can be a personal nickname, though it has independent origins as well. Families may choose Raven for wildlife, literature, or the sound. Its two-syllable form can stand alone without needing a longer formal expansion.
