Renesmee

Renesmee was created by Stephenie Meyer for the Twilight series. The character is the daughter of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, and her name combines Renée, Bella’s mother, with Esme, Edward’s adoptive mother. Its origin is therefore a specific fictional act of family naming rather than a traditional word from one older language.

Renée and Esme have separate histories, but joining them does not establish one ancient translation for Renesmee. The accented form Renesmée is also used for the character, whose nickname Nessie is part of the story. A real family choosing the name may be honoring that literary connection or its combined structure, while recognizing that its most prominent association remains Twilight.
