Romi

Romi is an independent Hebrew name commonly interpreted as “my exaltation” or “my height.” In other settings, parents also use it as a spelling of Romy or as a short form of a longer Rom name. Those uses do not automatically share the Hebrew derivation, so the intended family or language connection matters.

Romi and Romy generally look like interchangeable spelling choices to English readers, but Romy can arise from names such as Rosemary and Romilly. Romi's four letters give it a complete, compact shape without requiring expansion. If a longer name is part of the family story, explaining that specific connection is more accurate than treating all Rom names as one etymological family.
