Royalty

Royalty is an English word name referring to royal status or to people belonging to a royal family. Its meaning is readily recognizable without a translation from another language. Used as a personal name, it usually expresses an association with dignity, distinction, or importance; it does not confer an actual hereditary title.

Royal is a related word and can also serve as a shorter familiar form, but Royalty has its own longer rhythm. The noun additionally appears in the plural royalties for payments associated with creative work, a separate everyday use of the word. In naming, the royal-family sense is the most direct connection, placing it beside other names drawn from titles and ideas of elevated standing.
