Santos

Santos is a Spanish and Portuguese name associated with saints, ultimately from the Latin word for holy. It occurs both as a given name and as a surname, often within religious naming traditions. The plural form is significant: its literal reference is to saints rather than to one particular saint.

A family may choose Santos for an All Saints association, an inherited surname, or a relative. Its final s is part of the established word and should not be dropped as though it were merely an English plural added to a new name. The two-syllable form carries a clear devotional history without requiring a longer formal version.
